Lion Heart ENCOURAGE - What God asks of us Pt4 - Trust

Intro:

Hey Man of God! So finally we’ve arrived at the 4th ‘response’ God asks of us. TRUST. And to me this subject is such a beautiful one. It speaks to so many of God’s characteristics. It speaks to His true nature, subtly revealed.

Encouragement:

One of the more beautiful responses we can give to God is trust. Trust, or Faith, pleases God!

Heb 11:6 NKJV “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”

And to please God is a very satisfying idea don’t you think?

Trust, or Faith, is an abandonment into who He is. A surrender to a good God. And this is why I believe it pleases God so much, because it shows that we know Him as He is. Being seen and known for who we really are is such a beautiful thing don’t you think? Conversely, constantly being misunderstood, not being trusted and your good intentions not being seen for what they are, can be a very burdensome. (I only paint the opposite picture to illustrate how pleasant and good the ‘FAITH’ option is.)

But just before we go there, for this just joining, when we look across the broad landscape of scripture we can see these 4 ‘responses’ that God asks of us. He requires from us:

  • Love

  • Faithfulness

  • Holiness

  • Trust

Let's continue with Trust now. Note this key that Trust brings together a number of God’s characteristics: His Love, His Faithfulness, His Power, His Care, His Omniscience, His Purpose, His Glory and His true Nature. Trusting Him means we know that He’s got us, and that it’s not just a gamble, but rather an ever deepening knowledge of who He is.

Trust grows as we get to know the WHOLE of God.

One Godly characteristic without the other isn’t quite complete. For example, let’s say He knew everything, but didn’t care. Could you trust Him? Or He did care, but didn’t have the power to do something about it. Could you trust Him? Or He had the power to do something about it, but wasn’t able to get to you as He was somewhere else helping someone else. Could you trust Him as one trusts God? Right!

God is One. He doesn’t change. Knowing that His whole is comprised of many many aspects, substantial aspects, infallible aspects, is the soil in which trust can grow.

A life of growing in Trust is a response that shows that we are growing in knowing Him more completely.

In this post I will use Trust and Faith kind of interchangeably, even though we know that they are slightly different concepts. I believe they both illustrate what I’m trying to convey here.

Let’s maybe just briefly delve into the difference between Faith and Trust:

  • Faith: Often refers to a strong belief in something, typically without requiring proof or evidence. It is commonly associated with religious or spiritual beliefs but can also apply to confidence in ideas, principles, or people.

  • Trust: Involves reliance on the integrity, strength, or ability of a person or thing. Trust is usually built on past experiences, evidence, or relationships and implies a level of expectation that someone will act in a certain way.

Faith can exist independently of evidence, whereas Trust generally requires some form of evidence or experience. Trust is often built over time through consistent actions, reliability, and transparency. Both are essential in different aspects of life, including relationships, decision-making, and personal beliefs.

In my personal view and experience, Faith comes from God revealing Himself to us, and Trust comes from walking in that Faith. Beautiful, isn’t it.

As an illustration, let’s picture a deep and mature human relationship where both parties absolutely and without reserve trust on another. No reserve, no fear. Isn’t that just a beautiful and pure picture? Because God is so so so trustworthy, trusting Him is a sweet fragrance in his nostrils. It pleases Him deeply, I believe.

Furthermore, God is the MOST trustworthy person in all existence. Within the earth, within the universe, and even into every other dimension beyond our space and time. He is PURE, He is FOREVER. He is completely and utterly TRUSTWORTHY. And thus for us NOT to trust Him is a sin. It’s missing the mark. Missing the point. But to trust Him is fully and completely righteous. There is nothing more pure and righteous than to Give Him all our Praise, and to give Him all our Trust. As He is the only truly and fully trustworthy person, and fully deserving of all our praise. There is none like Him.

Trust is a sweet and pure response to God. Our trust is pleasing to Him!

But how does Trust, and Faith, come about? Where does it begin?

Well, as I always say, everything starts with God. He initiates. He is the Origin. He is the Author of all things Good. Faith starts when God reveals Himself to us. And you’ll remember that from previous teachings that “Faith has works”, or I like to use the word “response” here, “Faith without a response is dead”. It is our choice to respond to this Revelation. Once we respond, our journey into Knowing and Loving God begins. We need to respond.

Faith then grows as we pursue God daily.

Faith grows as we seek His Face daily. Faith grows as we respond to that growing revelation that we have received, and then walk in that Faith. In time, that Faith gains a companion called Trust. Trust matures as we see His infallibility over and over and over again.

GOD CANNOT FAIL!!!! He is FULLY worthy of our Trust. Let’s pursue Him, and respond in Faith and Trust.

That’s it. This mini- series of the broader responses that God desires from us has come to an end. See ya next time!

Prayer:

My brothers, I would encourage you to pray into your families daily. Prayer creates the environment for God to move. Pray is effectual! You, as head of the house, are the gatekeepers.

If this has blessed you, please forward it to another.

Your Brother in Christ,

Stanley
